The LF-LC concept car received great response after it was introduced at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. This rear-wheel-drive hybrid sport coupe has many people excited — even if it could take half a decade to see it at your local dealership.

Throughout the entire development process, many parts and features of the car were changed to create a better (and more fun) driving experience, including getting a new steering gearbox that offers less friction, using a different type of oil, and also getting new shock absorbers.

And, according to Motor Trend, "the result is a Lexus IS that’s worlds better than its predecessor."

Motor Trend went on to say: "[The] shifts are fast and the gears are spaced tightly together, helping the car rocket down the track. Lexus incorporated accelerometers into the transmission to make it downshift on heavy braking, hold its gear through the corner, and help it accelerate quicker out of corners. That system mostly worked as advertised, though I eventually found myself using the steering wheel-mounted paddles to get the most out of the V-6. The IS 350 F Sport made a great track companion. Steering was sharp, offering excellent feedback, pedal feel was firm, and the car’s adaptive suspension easily absorbed the track’s curbing without getting upset, even when I got cocky and went way too fast through the corkscrew."

In conclusion, Motor Trend stated, "Ultimately Lexus is well on its way to making the IS most fun-to-drive vehicle in its class."

The general manager of Lexus USA since 2007, Mark Templin, has become the managing officer and executive vice president of Lexus International. In this role, he will lead Lexus global operations from Toyota City in Japan. With this new appointment, Templin will become the first non-Japanese executive to manage a Toyota division within the company’s global headquarters in Japan. Mark Templin will now report to Kiyotaka Ise, senior managing officer and president of Lexus International.

Back in the U.S., Jeffrey Bracken will take over Templin's previous position, and become the new vice president and general manager of Lexus USA. Another name to watch is Bob Carter, who will also play a role in Lexus in the USA.

All of these executive changes are aimed at giving greater autonomy and more local control to regional executives and managers.
